That ought to be here in Aigues-Mortes, in an area of marshes, sand and water. Seven centuries later, the fortification still dominates the Camargue as one of the most well preserved medieval French building. Audio guide in French, English, German, Italian, Dutch and special versions for teenagers (7 to 12 years old). VISITES PROPOSED BY THE TOURIST BOARD Visit of the little Museum of History and Archaeology, of the Chapel of Grey Penitents, dating back to the 17th century and containing an altarpiece made of stucco by Sabatier. Visit of the Chapel of White Penitents, also from the 17th century, hiding a fresco from X. Sigalon and paintings from A. Gleize. Discovery of the Church “Notre Dame des Sablons” made in gothic style and of the “Place Saint Louis”. (Individual in July and August on booking at the Tourist Board)

Discover of the medieval town on the little train of Aigues-Mortes. Its historic commentary about Saint Louis, the crusades, the walls’ construction, the Religion wars... 20 minutes of a funny and fascinating tour in the heart of the old town. The exhibition presents a magnificent collection of fossils and minerals coming from all around the world. Aqua marina, amethyst, quartz, ammonites, fossil fishes... A large range of specimen exhibited for the greatest pleasure of children and adults. Free entrance! Open on weekends in April, May, June and school holidays from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
